Vitamin E protects cell membranes from oxidative damage. Selenium regenerates vitamin E after it has been oxidized, restoring its antioxidant function. Without selenium, vitamin E is used up and not recycled.
This pair requires two separate supplements. Both are needed for the synergy to work.
Selenomethionine is the organic, best-absorbed form of selenium. Powers glutathione peroxidase (GPx), the enzyme that regenerates oxidized vitamin E back to its active form.

Coming soonHow to take this pair: Take 200-400 IU vitamin E (mixed tocopherols) and 100-200 mcg selenomethionine together with a fat-containing meal. Do not use high-dose vitamin E alone (above 400 IU) without selenium. Selenium toxicity occurs above 400 mcg/day; do not exceed 200 mcg. Use mixed tocopherols, not alpha-tocopherol alone, as isolated alpha-tocopherol showed no benefit in large trials.
